Why is my bill higher than this estimate?
A household bill also includes other appliances, standby consumption, taxes, fixed charges, and sometimes tiered or time-of-use pricing.
Can I compare two appliances?
Yes. Calculate each appliance with the same hours and rate, then compare the monthly and annual results.
What if an appliance cycles on and off?
Use its average power draw if available. A rated maximum wattage can overestimate devices such as refrigerators and air conditioners that cycle.
